Side A Quality Control, Original, Instrumental, Acapella
Side B Twelve (clean), Twelve (dirty), Twelve (instrumental)
From Quality Control: "I make the pen capsize..." A great line about how much the MC writes. I always misheard this as, "I make the pen-cap size," as if he worked in a pen factory and was in charge of the manufacturing of pen caps... Someone's gotta make sure they're the right size!
So many great lyrics, classic Jurassic-5
I'm listening to all of my records in my collection. It's not a huge collection, and I have some weird ones that I never listen to. This gives me a chance to listen to all of them and share my thoughts about them while I listen to them.

Keith Jarrett - My Song
My last Keith Jarrett record. Whew. I think between CD and LP I have every recording KJ made with Charlie Haden and Paul Motian. This record is with the European gang. This record has a pop quality to it, and Keith Jarrett even performed on "My Song" on Saturday Night Live.
Keith is definitely an enigma. Great musician. Annoying screech/humming/howling/singing-while-playing tendencies. Makes audiences feel small. Egotistical. All add up as parts of the equation that is Keith Jarrett.

Keith Jarrett - Mysteries
The mid 1970's phase of the Jarrett US Quartet traded in their steel drums (Thank God!) for log drums. What a much nicer tone. The group created many interesting "tribal" type explorations, and I love the song "Flame," which features Jarrett on his Native American flute, Dewey on the musette, Paul Motian and Guilherme Franco presumably on log drums, and Charlie Haden doing his drone/rubber band noises on his bass. This is a superb jam, with a catchy over and under melody reminiscent of the opening bassoon melody in the Right of Spring by Stravinsky.

Keith Jarrett - Shades
I love the transition from the super jazz piece "Shades of Jazz" into "Southern Smiles." This is not my favorite KJ album, but also not my least favorite. My favorite track is definitely "Southern Smiles."

Keith Jarrett - El Juicio
WHY THE STEEL DRUMS? I really like this group, but they murdered some very magical musical moments with the most obnoxious steel drum smashing... very disappointed when that happens, but this group does find magic around nearly every corner!
